A Fire Ring Closes

A Fire Ring Closes
Flames surround the grounds
The sheriff learns of an initial fire near the gate, then Maria reports a larger blaze behind the house. Wind carries flames through dry scrub and makes escape routes dangerous.

The crisis grows faster than the people inside can organize a response.

A private menagerie breaks loose
Zebras, a giraffe, antelopes, and smaller animals flee the burning grounds. Their movement makes the fire escape even more unpredictable for the guests.
The pool becomes refuge
As heat and embers reach the house, the group moves into the pool. Even Queenie, who cannot swim, must enter the water to avoid the flames.
The exotic estate’s spectacle becomes a concrete survival hazard.
The House Is Lost

A timber structure ignites
Although the castle’s exterior looks like stone, its underlying structure is timber. Fire reaches the roof, and the group cannot stop it with the available hoses.
Escape replaces rescue
The guests abandon attempts to save belongings and flee toward the pool and then the fire trucks. Cy’s carefully assembled architectural fantasy is consumed by the blaze.
The mansion’s destruction ends the world he built around collecting and display.
Rescue and Aftermath

Rescue and Aftermath
A rescue in the water
Bella climbs the wall and helps Stella escape her locked room, then returns with the others to the pool. Firefighters arrive only after the estate is already lost.
The group reaches safety
The sheriff’s truck takes survivors away for statements. Juan later dies trying to escape, while the animals are rounded up and sent to the Los Angeles Zoo.
Survival comes with grief for lives, animals, and a home destroyed by retaliation.
